Air Fryer Nutella-Stuffed Donuts
Soft yeasted dough sealed around Nutella, air-fried at 350°F until puffed and golden, then rolled in sugar while warm.
Ingredients
- Dough:
- 2 1/4 cups (280 g) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup (50 g) granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp (1 packet) instant yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2/3 cup (160 ml) warm milk (about 110°F)
- 1 large egg
- 3 tbsp melted butter
- Filling and coating:
- 1/2 cup (150 g) Nutella
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
Method
- Mix the flour, sugar, yeast and salt. Add the warm milk, egg and melted butter and knead 5-6 minutes until smooth and soft. Cover and let rise about 1 hour, until doubled.
- Meanwhile, drop 8 heaping teaspoons of Nutella onto parchment and freeze them 15 minutes so they're easy to handle.
- Roll the dough about 1/4 inch thick and cut 16 rounds with a 3-inch cutter.
- Set a Nutella dollop in the center of 8 rounds, top each with a second round, and pinch the edges firmly shut all the way around.
- Cover and let them rest 20 minutes to puff.
- Air-fry in a parchment-lined basket at 350°F for about 8 minutes, flipping once, until puffed and deep golden brown. Work in batches so they don't touch.
- Brush the warm donuts with melted butter and roll them in sugar.
Short on time? 1 lb of store-bought pizza or bread dough works in place of the homemade dough.
